Founded in August of 2004, the Biomedical Engineering Student Association (BESA) is in its 5th year of existence and is a strong student presence in both the Biomedical Engineering Graduate Group and the Department of Biomedical Engineering. The goal of BESA is to provide a community for graduate students in Biomedical Engineering at UC Davis. We hope to be a source of information for students, hopefully answering questions about specific tracks of study, the preliminary exam, how to move on to candidacy, etc. Every month, we hold open meetings where students can share opinions about the department with faculty and other students. Through out the year, we provide fun opportunities for students, faculty, and staff to interact through events such as faculty-student luncheons, BBQs, hikes, community service projects, holiday parties, IM sports, camping trips, and more. In addition, BESA plays an integral role in welcoming new BMEGG students in the fall and in recruiting new students in the spring.
hello.. my name labanie from indonesia. I just graduate from electrical engineering. now I work in biomedical supplier for hospital. I want to know obout Biomedical Engineering Student Association. in indonesia its any some like BESA?
Labanie — our organization is student run and is at UC Davis only. We are not associated with any national or international clubs. There may be similar student organizations at universities near you.
What on earth?
There’s already BMES, the Biomedical Engineering Society here on the UC Davis campus.

Is this the department of redundancy department?
BMES is a chapter that represents the undergraduate students of Department of Biomedical Engineering whereas BESA represents the graduate students of the Biomedical Engineering Graduate Group. I do not understand what is so redundant here. Please contact me if you have further questions.
