The last meeting of the 2010/2011 school year was recently held with both old and new officers present. The spring BBQ was discussed, along with summer camping. See the events page for more information on those two events, or continue reading below. They will definitely be a blast!!

Elections
- Congratulations to new officers!
- This year, we just used email voting
- In the future, we should strive to achieve 50% of number of students vote (only about 30-40 students responded to the email and voted)
Student prelim lunch
- Good turnout
- Perfect amount of pizza (only spent about $60)
- Suggestions:
o better structure, perhaps with a list of frequently asked questions to kick off the meeting
o break into smaller groups
Future Events
Camping
- Set for July 9th
- Location: Angel’s camp, about 2 hours away
- So far, there are 14-15 rsvp’s
- Booked 2 or 3 campsites
- Driving up Saturday, staying one night, then driving back Sunday
- Suggestions:
o bring items for water activities such as boat/kayak, etc.
o Work out a price for non-BME guests ?
BBQ
- Will start at 2:30pm on Thursday, June 23rd
- Expecting 50-60 people
- Games and snacks will start at 2:30pm, set up grill
- Setup around 2pm
- Will probably end around 6pm
- Can grill around dinner time
- Activites:
o Bocce, tug of war, textbook toss (Tonya can bring measuring tape), water balloons, wiffleball (Tonya), Frisbee?
- Erica will go to Target to buy small toys for prizes for these events (under $5)
- Food: budget around $250-300
- Readylite Charcoal
- Check cabinet for what we need to buy from Costco (plates, etc? )
- Adult beverages, and red cups. Funding: can take donations?
- Volunteers for setup and cleanup
- Erica will be in charge of taking photos
New officer responsibilities
- President: organizing events, attending faculty meetings
- VP: t-shirts, taking pictures, and assisting the president
- Treasurer: reimbursing people, keeping track of budget, Iwan needs to switch account to Pasha’s name
- Secretary: arranging meetings, taking meeting notes, and taking care of elections
- IM sports chair: organizing sports teams, asking students which sports they want to play
- Social chair: in charge of social events, and student-faculty lunches (about 1 per quarter)
- Dean witter: funds that can be used for student-faculty events
- Community service/Outreach officers: getting started in the summer to organize outreach events, get contacts and info from previous officers
- At the beginning of the year, each officer can volunteer for one event in addition to your typical duties
- Need to take pictures during the events and put them up on the website
BMES
- Try to be more involved with undergraduate events
Committee Meetings
- Need volunteers to attend meetings for each committee
