The BME retreat this year was at the Grizzly Creek Ranch in Plumas County, which is a two hour drive away from Davis. Around 50 people participated this year including our awesome grad group chair Dr. Tonya Kuhl and our equally awesome student advisor Christal Wintersmith. Dr. David Fyhrie, academic advisor to the Biomechanics track students, joined us on the second day.
We got there in the evening on Friday, 26th Sep, and got back to Davis on Sunday. The two poster sessions were scheduled in the evening on Friday and Saturday, and the talks were held on Saturday and Sunday morning. The talks were very informative, and the poster sessions were lively and a lot of fun. It was great to see the incoming students interacting with the senior students and getting exposed to interesting research going on in the grad group.
We played board games after the poster sessions, and many people participated in flag football and volleyball games during the day. A few activities were organized in the afternoon on Saturday including archery, hiking and kayaking.
The entire event was a lot of fun and we wish we had more of these during the academic year! Thanks for organizing this event Christal!
